Sam McGlynn is an Irish-Canadian film director best known for his recent feature Deaner '89, which opened theatrically across Canada on September 6th. The film was nominated for seven Canadian Screen Awards, including the prestigious John Dunning Best First Feature Film Award.

With over 20 years of experience directing CG and real-time films for cinematics, virtual production, and feature films, McGlynn brings a deep technical and creative skillset to his storytelling.

He began his career in Ireland working on set for legendary producer Roger Corman before discovering his passion for post-production. After relocating to Vancouver, he built a successful editing career before moving into the gaming industry at Electronic Arts, where he led the creation of cinematics and trailers for major franchises such as Star Wars, FIFA, and Battlefield. A collaboration with director Neill Blomkamp on a live-action trailer earned a Clio Award for Best Visual Effects and a Golden Trailer Award for Best Gaming Trailer.

McGlynn went on to serve as Executive Creative Director at Method Studios and Company 3, where he oversaw large-scale projects for clients like The Mandalorian, Call of Duty, and Meta. Now focused full-time on directing, he continues to draw on his deep experience with Unreal Engine and cutting-edge visual workflows to develop bold, character-driven stories for film and beyond.
