Sam McGlynn is a Vancouver-based commercial and film director with a background in high-end storytelling, real-time production, and cinematic worldbuilding. He currently serves as a Creative Director at Microsoft, where he leads generative AI video across marketing, exploring new workflows and visual languages that merge filmmaking with emerging AI technologies.
He previously served as Executive Creative Director at Method Studios and Company 3, where he led creative on game cinematics, virtual production, and VFX-driven content for global franchises including The Mandalorian, Call of Duty, and Star Wars. Prior to that, he spent a decade at Electronic Arts as a Cinematic Director, shaping narrative-driven content for AAA titles.
Sam made his feature directorial debut with Deaner '89, a comedy that premiered in 115 Cineplex theatres across Canada and is now streaming on major platforms via Mongrel Media. The film received 7 Canadian Screen Award nominations, including the John Dunning Best First Feature Film Award.
He brings a distinctive cinematic voice and deep technical fluency (Unreal Engine, virtual production, Runway), working at the forefront of AI-driven filmmaking. Sam specializes in films that combine emotional clarity, humour, and bold visual innovation, redefining what’s possible in modern storytelling.
